The second Phase of consultations

Meetings with BCP Officers

2nd MEETING WITH BCP OFFICERS - 17th July, 2023

This meeting was a follow-up meeting to that of 13th March, since which time a new administration of BCP has taken control. To see what progress has been made with the Local Plan since March and what changes of emphasis are likely under the new administration  go to DOWNLOAD BELOW for the Meeting Notes.

1st MEETING WITH BCP OFFICERS - 13th March, 2023

On 13th March, 10 members of Magwatch met with senior BCP officers in a consultation on the Local Plan. It was a very positive and constructive meeting, with some very encouraging news about the local Green Belt promoted sites

The government’s proposed changes to the planning system (due to be introduced in April) have enabled BCP to decide that NONE of the promoted local Green Belt  sites will be allocated for development in the Local Plan.

There are caveats to this good news: we were told by the BCP officers that developers will no doubt try to get their promoted sites included when they submit to the Planning Inspectorate’s Examination of the Local Plan next year. That will be our next big battle: to persuade the government inspector otherwise. Another lesser threat comes from the forthcoming local elections. It is possible, though unlikely, that a new administration might change their priorities.

You will see from the Notes (which you can DOWNLOAD BELOW), that we raised a number of transport-related issues. We were advised by the officers that we should respond to Local Transport Plan 4 consultation when that begins.

This website will keep you informed.
