MAKE (ANOTHER) OBJECTION

MMV have placed what they purport to be an amended application for the proposed incinerator on Canford Heath. (APP/23/00822/F). See https://boppa.poole.gov.uk/onlin.../applicationDetails.do...
If you read nothing else, read 'MVV Response to Local Representations Summary', which will give you a clear sense of the their punchy 'We're not going to shift' attitude.

APPLICATION

Planning application APP/23/00822/F has recently been submitted by MVV for this new incinerator between Magna Road and Canford Heath (an SSSI). See the application on the BCP PLANNING PORTAL.

If you haven't already done so, OBJECT!

Sadly there is much ignorance about what is proposed because many people are unaware of the proposed incinerator and most people have not read the fine detail of the plans. This includes all three of our local councillors, two of whom were telling people at a recent ward surgery that 'only steam' will come out of the 110 metre chimney. [It doesn't seem to have occurred to them that the obtrusively high chimney is necessary only because of the pollutants that will be emitted.]

Local people should be aware that:

  • The sustainability credentials  touted by MVV's PR people are bogus. Carbon capture is a pipe dream for the future and is unviable at the moment and in the foreseeable future.
  • The 100+ metre chimney is necessary because of the polluting gases emitted. However, it only 'reduces' polluting gases, it does not eliminate them. It will be seen for miles around.
  • The proposed site in on the edge of Canford Heath, a richly biodiverse habitat.
  • The huge chimney is a threat to Airpost Safeguarding. Bournemouth Airport have objected
  • An additional 20,53 6 HGVs per year carrying 260,000 tonnes will be added to the existing congestion along Magna Rd (and this before the Cruxton Farm and Knighton Farm developments of 1200 houses have been built).
  • The development will encroach onto Green Belt land.
  • Authorities that incinerate their waste discourage recycling.

IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE FULL IMPLICATIONS OF WHAT THE PLANT WILL DO TO THE LOCAL AREA, READ AS MANY OF THE PLANNING DOCUMENTS YOU FEEL ABLE TO.

IF YOU WANT A SUMMARY OF THE MATERIAL NEGATIVES OF THIS APPLICATION, YOU CAN READ MY OJBECTION. [DOWNLOAD BELOW]. IT IS MY NO MEANS PERFECT, BUT IT AT LEAST I HAVE READ THE APPLICATION.

USEFUL LINKS

MVV's leaflet about the incinerator (a word they dare not use!) can be downloaded below.

The scoping report for the plans can also be downloaded below.

You can read general details about the application in a BOURNEMOUTH ECHO  article from 7th August.

The picture on the right is of a very serious  fire that occurred at the existing, much smaller plant in July, 2018. According to the Echo,  “At the height of the blaze, ten fire engines, three water  carriers and other support appliances were in attendance”.   If you want  to read the full article, follow THIS LINK
